August is high season in Donostia-San Sebastián. Early booking of all travel arrangements including accomodation is STRONGLY encouraged!! Consider refundable bookings if you still want to stay flexible.

Despite the distance from San Sebastián (110km), the airport of Bilbao (BIO) is probably the best option. The airport is served by various airlines, and it is well-connected to major European airports. In front of the terminal, you will find convenient bus service to San Sebastián bus terminal (every 30 min, 1h 10min travel time, 17EUR). A taxi will cost approx. 110 EUR.
The closest airport is Donostia-San Sebastian Airport (EAS), situated in Hondarribia, 18 km north of San Sebastían. There are interurban bus lines to San Sebastián (Lurraldebus, 3EUR). Taxi about 45€.
Other nearby airports are Biarritz (BIQ) in France, or Vitoria-Gasteiz (VIT).
If you want to travel by train, the French border village of Hendaye is connected to the French high-speed train system, and also served by commuter train to Donostia/San Sebastián (https://www.euskotren.eus/en). Of course, San Sebastián is also connected to various long-distance lines of the Spanish railways (RENFE).
